fait hesston tractors

Fiat Hesston purchased Ford tractors in ~1993. Fiat had to sell off their portion of HFI in Hesston Kansas with this purchase.

You can get parts through New Holland. I think Fiat stopped putting the Hesston name on tractors. I own a Hesston 160-90 good tractor and have worked on others not to bad of tractors.

On the 6000 series of AC tractors basically only the engine was AC. Everything else was Fiat. There are obvious similarities visible on the NH tractors now.
We had an AC 6060 and sold it after 4000 hrs. as we were breaking up a partnership, and neither wanted the others half. I was scared of the rear end as the engine put out so much more power than advertised.
I remember seeing a 6080 which had run low on oil and it was taking forever to get rear end parts. I suspect parts availability is better now through NH. It certainly is for my FiatAllis bulldozer.

Lets Just say that the Hesston FIAT is now part of the Fiat owned CNH mess. I was down to my friends CNH dealership about a year ago and he was out back unloading a couple of CXs?? (Can't keep track of models anymore) and he takes me to the rear of one and asked me what I thought. It sure looked like a 8or980 Hesston (FIAT) under the glass and plastic of the cab. When we were CASE dealers we were also HESSTON dealers. Sold the Hesston tractors. All our customers were happy with them and no complaints. The 16speed powershift trans in the 160-90 and 180-90 powered by the 494cu.in. FIAT engine loafing along at 2200RPM, took a back seat to "Knowone"
The smaller tractors were very nimple and comfortable to operate. The 880 with it's 5 cylinder engine was a real standout in my opinion. Lots of torque and vary stingey with a gal of fuel. We did very well with the Hesston 6450 SP Mower Conditioners. and the hydro-swings. The choppers were excellent, including the FIELD QUEEN SP. The Round balers were also very well accepted, although I think that form of harvesting hay is extreamly wastefull. Hedgrows lined with them around here. As for your original question: Hesston tractors, Name gone, FIAT very much in the World Tractor business!

I think the current New Hollands are Fiat based and similar in make-up to those Fiat-Hesston tractors. I've never heard anything bad about them. Now I see certain NH tractors and certain C-IH models have the exact same specs, down to the exact pound.
