My computer is like carpet bombing, first one hits, then another raises it head.
It won't connect to a website from outlook express.
next one... click print on o/e..printer won't print.
Any ideas before I start on the sideboards , the top has gone.

heres a little usless information..Downloaded a test PC fix free.AVG I think. it found 1483 problems, then said it fixed them. I pressed uninstall and pop up told me I had 1483 problems and do I wish to uninstall, didn't have any choice really because they only gave one free, after it vanished a satisfaction page came on. just what I wanted but they have not contacted yet. So I presume I still have problems.

Try System Restore from Accessories/System Tools if you use Windows. Reset your "puter to a date from before you got scammed. If it doesn"t allow Restore to start, try again after rebooting in Safe Mode.

Unfortunately, if the bug is good enough to prevent even that, I take it to the Geek Squad.

Your problem statement is not very clear, but looks like your pc: a) Cannot connect to the internet, b) Cannot connect to the printer, c) Has 1483 problems detected, but not fixed.

I see three solutions:
a) Reload the entire image. Back up your critical documents to an external drive, i.e. pictures, documents, favorites, mail, etc. Then reformat entire drive, reload your Operating Systems, software applications, print drives, device drives and data.
b) Download Microsoft Security Essentials from a computer connected to the internet to a moveable drive. Install this file on the infected pc and run the scans.
c) Call the vendor of your Anti-virus.

Bendee:

I had this very same problem six months ago. If there is a file you wish to open in Outlook Express, send it to your hotmail account, you should be able to open it then.

I have learned to avoid Outlook Express totally!

There probably is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with your 'puter, it is Outlook Express itself. I believe they are trying to eliminate that particular service.

The "problems" are most likely just harmless cookies you could delete yourself. They are just trying to sell you a program.
The Outlook thing could be several things, maybe it's not configured right, maybe a server is down, I guess I'd contact my provider and see if they could help me through it.
On the printer thing, watch when the print dialog comes up. Where is it telling the document to "print" to? The correct printer you have installed? Have you used this printer before? Is it turned on? Is it hooked up? If everything checks out and your computer still will not communicate with the printer it may be a driver (software) problem. You may have to reinstall the driver.

Once a computer and it's windows operating system gets to a certain age, it becomes fodder for every Jr High school level aspiring hacker. That is not to say you have been a victim of some personal attack, but as the systems age all their vulnerabilities become common knowledge to all.

At some point you may need to realize that an outdated system may only survive for short duration even after the best cleaning, or even total rebuild.

Well, isn't that interesting! Mine also happens to have the same number of errors - and has had for a long time. I just delete the message when it comes up once a week and go on.
