Wonder how they sell anything

Requested some pictures of a lo-boy trailer as per sellers instructions on a craigslist add, did not get pictures, got a diatribe asking me if I had the money to buy the trailer because he didn't want to waste time sending out pictures if I didn't have the money. I told him to keep the pictures and I would keep my money. Another kind I never answer are adds that have hardly any information and then say "serious inquireies only" how do people sell anything if they don"t want to deal with the public a little. When I place an add I expect a couple of tire kicking calls and a couple of calls from people who really don"t even know whats for sale, no big deal. If I couldn"t answer a few questions I would consign anything I wanted to sell to an auction.

Probably such a high price that he's tired of dealing with folks who loose interest when they find out the price.

What about the ones that say "Call and make an offer" but show no pictures, and few details.
I was at a flea market and asked seller how much a tool was. He said ,"I don't know what it is worth, what you wanna give?" I might have missed a deal, but I just kept on walking.

i've listed a few things on CL and to be perfectly honest theres more wannabees and tirekickers than any spot on earth i think...not worth even listing stuff

I just can't resist. When I'm holding a tool I want at a garage sale and seller says "Make me an offer", I do! Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't. But I sure haven't invested much time in the project at that point, and haven't anything to lose (other than the 10 seconds for the conversation).

The fact that these people are trying to sell on Craiglist means they are not professional sales people. I am and I suspect most of us are professional buyers if we really want something in particular.

I have gotten some really cheap equipment from these same people you are talking about.

I suggest you wait awhile then go see the trailer. By this time the guy is more disgusted with buyers than you are with
sellers.

Talk to him a little develop a rapport and make an offer.

I recently bought a pro grade parts washer with varsol for $100. A Snap On blast cabinet with blower and dust vacuum for $300. Both sellers where asking alot more but where tired of dealing with it.

The"serious inquiries only" really disturbs me as a buyer. The article or vehicle being sold has obviously peaked my interest or I wouldn't be wasting my time on the computer or phone and contacting the seller..and I do get a laugh out of someone who has a 19 year old rusted out truck for sale for $600 and they say"Serious Inquiries Only"..ROFLMAO..the truck is a $200 piece of scrap at most scrap metal recyclers.

think of it as that old bulletin board at the laudromat, all cluttered up with useless old junk but bits of treasure maybe buried in there

I kind of have to go for the seller here. He is weeding out the tire kickers. If the guy had much going on (small Buisness) he would be in front of his computer all day. I find that most of the people are interested in the pictures more than the item. Or do not realize you are 10 hours away and can't come anyway. You are correct the item should have a good desciption and price in the ad. Did i also mention the guy that comes and looks at it and wants to trade a boat camper etc!!!!

I have offered and the seller accepted my low offer and then I have turned around and given them more just to see the look. Haggling should be fun not the end of the world.

I sell a few things on CL. For example, tires, had an ad up for a couple weeks, ad had the size, wear% brand name info, just no picture, as I haven't figured out that yet. The responses I hate the most are the ones who want to jew you down, without ever looking at what you have too sell. I think that is just rude, If I am gonna buy something, I am going to look, before I make any lower offer. I can understand a little if the buyer has to come a long way, but who travels far to buy used tires?

when a seller advertises something, his job is almost done. It is the duty of the buyer to make it happen. Criticising the seller does no good.
Deal in good faith. Tire kickers are a real pain.
They want a pic and price, and 2 years to ponder it,,,dont be shy. Git Er dun.

Try selling a few things before you start criticizing.

Dealing with the idiots and tire-kickers gets frustrating after a while, especially when you've got your item fairly priced and it's not getting any serious attention.

I was trying to sell a loader for a Farmall Cub for a while here. All the calls I got were from people who wanted to mount it on a different tractor, or wanted to know what a loader was for.
