plow and disk

Dear lads
I am looking at buying a set of plows and disk for my case 1070
My question is do you thing a 1070 will pull an international 720 5 / 16s in sand with no problems and what size of disk should I look for. I am only doing some about 160 acres of old hay fields thanks for now matt

I have an 870 Case and easily pull 4/16s and a 12 ft disk in loamy soil. I would think a 1070 would easily pull 5/16s in the same conditions and an 18 to 20 ft disk.

Uncle had a 1070 and pulled 6-18s. in heavy ground. He had to put a ton of weight on it and go slow but he pulled it. Did not take long and the trans was ripped up and shortly there after the rear end.

Matt
We sold 1070s with 5-16/18s commonly. Our ground varies greatly from light gravel and loam to tough clay. We pulled 5X16s with 8and 970s also in these lighter soils. If you have tough clay, a 5B could be a challange, mainly due to traction, not power. As far as disc selection, I would look for a folding finishing disc with a smoothner on the rear, 16-18 feet wide.
