Attended show in Temple, Texas recently and saw a John Deere A with a General Motors older Diesel V8 but could never find owner. How is the engine connected to the clutch? There was a 3/4 steel plate between the engine and the crankcase. very neat installation.

I've read where builders of those have installed the "pumpkin" of a car rear axle in place of the crankshaft, giving the required 90º turn to the flow of power.

I don't know if you remember the name EJ Potter or not. He was a local guy here. Had a motorcycle with a V8 on it that he drag raced all over the world,had 2 pulling tractors with Alison V12s,won the NTPA championship a few times. Anyway,he and Artie Brown had a G with a big block Ford in it that they pulled around here back in the 70s.
