John Deere 7230 == Opinion ==

I am seriously considering the purchase of a 2010 JD 7230 FWA to replace my 4450 2WD. This tractor will be used to pull a 12R planter, a 60ft sprayer, and a round baler.

Anyone out there have any experience with the 7230? Are all 7030 series tractors GPS ready?

It will pull the planter. We used a 4230 on a 12 row integral vertical fold for years. I know the larger size is prewired for it but not sure about the small-frame 7030 series. A quick look at the model on www.deere.com should tell you pretty quick. It should also have a sticker on the window saying as much. Doubt you can go wrong with it. People tell me to go with the IVT that have had it if available.
 
I don't think you can go wrong with that, but I would recommend the ivt trans. Takes a little while to get used to it, but it sure saves on fuel.
 
We have a 7230 MFD that we use basically as a loader and PTO tractor.We love the tractor but probably a little less horse power than a 4450 but should work fine.Seems to be efficient and is very user friendly to run.
 
MY DAD HAS A 7130 AND HAD A 7220 need about 30 more horse to keep up with a 4450 dont turn very short either but real good in the mud with a loader could clean out a pond with it if wanted nice tractor though, quiet cab i would keep 4450 and buy a 7800 to farm with for same money
 
That JD7230 is a big engine in a small frame tractor. Your JD4450 is a row crop tractor. I don"t know what you are expecting. The JD7230 will be more maneuverable but will ride worse than the JD4450. The JD7230 is Greenstar ready.

My self I would like the JD 4450 better. I don"t like all of the plastic in the newer tractors. Don"t like high horse power roller skates. If I was going to replace the JD 4450 I would look for a good JD7810. Same HP and frame.
