i just recieved the nigerian scam in reference to my dump truck, in the photo adds on the truck forum here, you just have to wonder about somebody who will still try this one, thinking folks havent heard of it, this one came from europe, now first off i know nobody in europe is interested in a kenworth sitting in the southwest united states, the cost of shipping a 24,000lb truck to europe would cost more than im asking for the truck, lol

I got one for a bale unroller I had craigs list. But it never mentioned what I was selling just called it "the item". Lots of misspelled words and bad grammar. What did I want for it? (price was listed)He definately wanted the item and would pay me a premium above the price. The freight company would have the (phoney)check for me when they came to pick it up.

Does anybody ever fall for this crap?

On the second round you get a native English-speaking person. I am waiting for the check by Fedex right now. Of course, it will go in for collection rather than be deposited in my own account. Then it will go to a law enforcement agency once it is tagged as forged.

Oh,they try alright.
I had one trying to get me to pre pay the $2500 freight on a engine to Sweden.(payment to be made via a shady US bank to Nigeria.
It would get paid back in cash at pick up and cut me a cheque for the engine at that time.
Their excuse,to save money on bank charges.

Yea right!,they would've never come to pick the engine.

The third round is the "law enforcement authority" who needs your help catching the culprit. And of course they'll need you bank account number.

don't kill me here for this BUT
my wife enjoyed the MTV series Teen Mom and one of the teen moms fell for this on Tv...
i was in the room and when the girl mentioned that she was going to sell her car to someone who sent her a check for too much and she needed to send the difference...i started yelling at the TV for her to send the check...she did...and then the tears piled up...it was FANTASTIC

I'm guilty, too. Saw that episode laying in bed one night with the Mrs. I was yelling "Don't do it!" Why didnt the camera crew stop her? Good TV I reckon.

hahaha...at least someone else will admit it...
i was cheering for her to do it...wife was wondering what all the fuss was about ... i tried to explain it ...she wondered what kind of idiot would fall for such a thing...

brother-in-law got a scheme email and strung the guy along for a while...it was pretty funny...he kept sending the guy stuff to fill out in order to get the money and finally dropped him...he got a good kick out of it...i believe i am going to try that as well
