"Are the Hebblethwaites and Postlethwaites related in any way?"
I am sure with names such as these, some place in HISTORY their paths did cross!
Having looked into the History of GRAMP'S Name goes back to William the Conqueror!
"Hebble" a Flanders Handle, probably Saxony 700 years ago
In OLDE ENGLISH, a wooden plank bridge!
"Thwaite" very OLD English, referring to a Grassy Clearing!
I believe this is why Gramps really enjoyed picnics in the park, crossing the wooden plank bridge!
Now speculating on "Postle", I am thinking a letter may have been dropped as in the "A"!
There are many spellings of Hebblethwaite, (400 years) such as Hepplethwaite, Heblethwayt, Epplewhite only to mention a few!
Northern England, Yorkshire!
