ot sears garage door opener

I have a sears garage door opener with the saftey eyes. One of the prongs on one side of the little plug on the eye box corroded off so now the beam doesnt work and the door wont come down. So is there anyway to wire around this so I can use it without the beam. dont have any kids or pets so that is not an issue. Thanks in advance.

Did you try to cross the terminals on the opener where the eye wires hook up?

I tried that on mine. It didn't seem to work. Worth a try on that one though.

On the older (80's era) openers simply disconnecting BOTH photo eyes at the drive unit will get it working again.

Unfortunately later production openers must have both eyes connected and functioning in order to work.

try holding the button down till the door closes,then quickly release. that worked for my sister-in-law.

I tried that on the opener that eventually went to the trash (not a sears), and it didn't make any difference. The opener had been up for about 10 years and didn't work quite right from day one, so I trashed it and had a local company come out and install a brand new Raynor unit.

take both eyes and put the lens together and tape them. It will think they're still on the wall loking each other.

look up parts for it or call Sears. I have an old pump from Sears, bought in the 70's. A few years ago I got a new impeller from them for it.
