Jay, you must get your chores and your father in laws chores done fast this morning, because they want all available able bodied NY residents to volunteer to clean up the 6 to 8 ft garbage piles that have built up, only half of the garbage men can pick up garbage today because half of the are still picking up snow . It is your state, maybe you and all the other NY state guys and gals should go help? ........ Larry (lol)

Good idea.......... You are joking, but here, if there is a sidewalk in front of a house/business, the occupants are responsible to keep it clean, clear, and salted (sand, grit, etc) as needed. If no walk, you are responsible for the grass, dirt, etc that collects in the little gully next to your curb.

Nope, I wasent down there and I dont liter. I do my job paying my NYS taxes, so I'll watch on tv and see if they show them cleaning it up.! Lets hope they can do better than the snow storm clean-up, right? lol J

Back in the 60s, when garbage piled up down there (NYC), they just threw it out into the Hudson River. Now? When they finally pick it all up, they'll stick it on a garbage barge, tow it out into the ocean a few miles, and dump it all in the ocean water. New Jersey beach users get kind of upset at times when the stuff washers ashore.

I used to drive a garbage truck down there a long time ago. Amazing what you find in the garbage. My boss found a live baby one morning when picking up garbage at Englewood Hospital (7 miles from NYC). He DID turn the baby in, and did not take it to the land-fill in Leonia.
