In the process of rebuilding a 37 chevy 1.5 ton truck.I have removed drive shafts and transmission to replace the clutch. My question,do the universal joints need to be alined a certain way? I should also note it is an enclosed shaft with a center bearing.I should have looked closer before removing
Thanks for any advice or comments;; Al

Can't answer the question, but I have a habit whenever I pull a u-joint knuckle off a slip joint, I mark them just to be on the safe side so I can put them back the same.

I have timed every two piece drive shaft I have ever put together {lining up all the Ujoints the same] thats the way I was taught forty years ago, and it still works for me today.

Animal's correct. The u-joints all have to "break" at the same time. Just have all the caps at lined up at12:00 and bolt it down.
