And my hearts just a poundin!
About 20 years ago I sold A Farmall 450 that had always been in my family. To small for the equipment we had then, just taking up space, another to keep a battery in. Yep, sent her down the road, sniff sniff.
But I always knew I had written his name and phone number down, thought I put the number in my file cabinet. Started thinking about the old girl bout 5 years ago. Now and then I would look for the name, never found it.
Till today! Called the guy, he told me what a great tractor it WAS. Yep sold it 2-3 years ago for the above reasons.
But he remembered who he sold to. Called him.
But he sold it. To his son.
Have not got hold of him, I am in hot pursuit though.
Before ya rip me to hard for senden the old girl packen. It's in my genes it couldn't be helped. I was raised that when you bought new ya got rid of the old.
Oh how I miss all those old tractors I traded in or sold through the years. Mark

Wow, wouldn't that be cool. Best of look with your hunt.

They may know your coming when you did get the owner, probably gonna want a premuim once they hear "your heart rac'in!" LOL

Good Luck!

There's been times that I've sworn right up and down that I'd never sell another one,but I have.

One big heartbraker was when I found Dads old Oliver 66 in the boneyard. It wasn't any surprise since we had sold it to them because it was so far gone, but seeing it laying there, nothing more than the frame, rear end and one rear axle, sure brought back memories of all the time I spent as a kid sitting on his lap for hours on end on it. I've got his second one here and when I was restoring this one,I really thought about going and trying to buy that one then stripping everything off this one and fixing that one so it would have the right serial number since he had that one a LOT longer.
Just seemed like a whole lot of bother for a serial tag though. Oh well. I've got the second one.

I was once the fourth owner of a '48 Dodge farm truck. I put a nice paint job on it, and kept it nice enough that I'd drive it in parades occasionally.

When I quit farming and had an auction, the original owner's son bought it back. I still see the old gal around the neighborhood once in a while.

Mark,

Good luck, hope you can get er bought back. I've only got one tractor that's been in the family.. 1967 D-17 Allis. Grandpa's uncle bought it new, Grandpa bought it when his uncle retired, I bought it when I was trying to farm.

Couldn't imagine selling the ol' girl now..

sounds to me like someone neat and tidy just got bit by the collector bug. good luck. It took us ten years to get a tractor back, and that required an estate sale. but that's another story.

I'm lucky enough to have Dad's old Allis B, bought new in 1948. He traded in his '38 B on it, but no way I'll ever find that one. He also had an unstyled John Deere L at one time, traded for the '38 B. I won't find that one either.
