Hydraulic Problem Duall 250 Loader

Clearing the driveway this morning after the foot of snow we got here in Northern Minnesota something broke in the hydraulics.

My center cylinder will not stay pressurized. I lift the bucket and the bucket just swings down. Also can not put any pressure down the bucket just floats now. The control valve sticks a little put seems to work fine.

So the question is, is it the seals in the cylinder our is it the control valves.

Thanks, need to get it fixed before the next one hits.

What were you doing when it broke? Back dragging or pushing with the cutting edge with bucket dumped. Could have pulled the nut off the rod holding the piston on or broke the cylinder rod more than likely. Have seen the cylinder barrel swelled from pressure and causing oil bypass. I don't think it is the valve not something that happen that often.

Take the cylinder apart and screw the nut back on the end of the ram. Common Du-al problem. Use Loc-tite when you put the nut back on. You can use a pipe wrench to screw that aluminum nut back on and then file the marks from the wrench smooth before re-asembly. Wouldn't hurt to throw new seals in when you do it but if you need the loader right now you can just put it back together and use it. Baum Hydraulics in Omaha has the seals. Jim

Just pushing 12" of snow went to lift and dump and the bucket just would not tilt unless I kept the valve pushed.

Will get another cylinder on the way but that will not help with the 9" that we are going to get tonight.

Unfortunately this is not an original cylinder. This one I can tell has been shade tree fixed before. So it is just best now to order a new one. Thanks for the replies.

You probably blew the seal out in the center of the ram if the nut didn't come off. I blew one out in the one lift cylinder on mine one time. Don't have time to go into how odd that one acted, but it was bazzar.
The nut used to tend to work loose now and then on my Freeman though.
