O/T hay beans

Any kind of soybeans, can be used for bean hay, just cut and bale them, when the pods are still green, and the leaves still firmly attached. We also used to bale cowpeas, for hay.

In the late 30's alot of soybeans were baled for hay. There wasn't a developed market for them at that time.

Have baled a lot of them........way back when; excellent hay. Laredo, a small-stemmed variety was the bean of choice.......

Hi J Mehaffey: This Fall I had a friend come over and take all that came out of the rear of the combine.. He said his feeder cattle really like it and he was glad to get it since it was from good yielding soybeans. I took off the stock chopper so most of it was in a narrow row and his "stacker" did a real good job of cleaning it all up. (He was there to take some of my late hay also.) ag.
