Around my house , we've made snow cream for as long as I can remember . You take fresh snow , add milk and vanilla flavoring . I've always heard , though , don't use snow from the first snow fall .I'm actually eating a bowl of it now , first bowl of the season . Anyone else ever tried this ? Anyone have some new snow recipes ?

Merry Christmas ,
Whizkid

Never had it but my dad used to talk about it. I don't know why we never pestered him to make it..... now I can't.

Got the proportions/recipe?? I'd like to give it a shot the next time we get snow.

Tim, we mix milk and snow to make a slush. Don't know what proportion that would be. Add sugar, vanilla to taste. Use choclate milk, choclate syrup, strawberries, bananas, whatever yout taste buds desire. I have heard real maple syrup makes good snow cream. I even made some with egg nog. Poor people may have poor ways but we enjoy a lot of simple inexpenxive pleasures.

do you remember the atomic fall out scare in the sixties, warning about eating snow ice cream I seem to remember the folks talking about it. It was about the same time as the cranberry warnings.

I haven"t had any for decades but indeed we did used to have a batch every few years.

We nearly always had a milk cow or two for our family use so probably used cream instead of milk.

Eagle brand milk and snow, plus vanilla flavoring. Mix to the desired consistencey. Usually we used a large mixing bowl of snow and a can of eagle brand.

Just pour Baileys Irish Cream on ice cubes and be done with it. Or get a proper icecream maker.
