The first thing is that I forgot to tell everyone how darn cold I felt when I arrived back home. I left Vietnam with temperatures in the high nineties with high humidity. It was 9 degrees when I got off the plane in Chicago. I did not have any heavy cloths with me. I about froze on the bus.
The second it a little different. My second son Bill, was born on Sept. 1st, 1970. You know what I am meaning. I did not get to see or hold him until December 15, 1971. The fighting had escalated and I could not get a leave long enough to make the trip home. My wife did fly out to Manila in July of 1971 and we spent a week together.

WISH everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!

My brother got home in 69,you know the kind of treatment was given back then, black eye to all our country.
But I had to say to you Sir,thank you for your service.

Andy thank your brother for me. I was lucky in that I never got any real bad "welcomes" back here. I also never traveled through California either. There and Washington DC seems where most of the problems where. I also usually traveled in civilian cloths. I did do escort duty once but nothing happened during it. Had some friends that did get some bad stuff. Most did not have a lot of trouble.
