JD Powershift Transmission

Are parts still available from JD to rebuild powershift transmissions for late model JD 3020 and JD 4020? I was speaking with an owner of a 3020 powershift and he mentioned that he had difficulty in finding parts to fix his tractor. I called the local JD business and spoke with a young person who really did not have a clue as to what I was asking. Thanks for answers and Happy Holidays! TPat

Pretty hard question to answer without knowing what specific parts he needs. I HAVE heard that comment before, but never about WHAT specific parts are hard to get.

I HOPE it's not true /cause I've got two of 4020 PS'ers, a diesel and a gasser.

You can go to jdparts.com and look at the parts catalog for free, if you are signed up with a dealer, you can than check availability and price.

Bob, I do remember the gentleman with the 3020 mentioned C pack???? He said he got a used unit from a parts salvage business in Iowa. I am very unfamiliar with a powershift. I have used a synchro 4020 in the past. The owners of powershift tractors say they are very user friendly and dependable. My in laws use JD 4430 and 4440 for their main tractors on the farm. I am more familiar with the Quad Range than the powershift. Thanks for your reply. TPat

There was a discussion several pages back about parts availability. JDemaris stated that some poweshift parts are NLA. The JD powershift trans has been known as near destructible but it was always expensive to rebuild when worn out. There was only 2 real ways to tear up a PS,tow tractor without shifting trans disconnect or run low on hyd oil.

TPat, Any good JD Dealership worth their Salt should be able to get any and all part needed to fix or rebuild a Power Shift. That tranny was virtually unchanged through the 40 series.
As Jim said only 2 real way to damage the trans was to tow with our unhooking the disconnect or run low on oil/
My relatives were at a new Demo of the 30 series tractors. Rep told them the tranny was capable of this....On a 4630, Throttle at Wide open, Trans Shifter in N, bottom of the forward gears.... then shift all the way to 8th,Hi Gear, Use no clutch. The tranny would not be hurt at all.
OBTW you had better have the seat belt on or it would jump out from under you!!!
My neighbor had his 4430 worked on 2 yrs ago. Not his or the tractor fault....some kids vandalized it. had no problems get it fixed. He used the JD dealer @ Goldthwaite,Texas,,,Lawson Equipment Co. Hope this helps.
Later,
John A.

Thank you Sir for your reply. I have assisted with fixing a quad range on a 4430 and a 4440. We bought all parts from our local JD Dealership.
Again thanks and happy holidays! TPat in Al.
