OT Kerosun heater flame color

I have used a Radiant 101 for a long time and it works great. I just picked up a Omni 85 the other day, I replaced the wick and it heats OK but the flame stays a bright yellow. The 101 will light yellow but quickly go blue and stay that way. Is the yellow flame normal on the Omni 85? I got an owners manual with the heater and is does not say what color the flame should be. I like having a movable heat source, but want to make sure it's safe.

is the wick adjustable? sounds like its sticking too far out or if its fixed the air inlet may be clogged...yellow is WRONG and potentially deadly.

Hi Heyseed
We use several models of keorsene heaters from old Perfections with bright yellow flames to Kerosun radiants that burn with light blue flames for our primary heat sources.
Due to cost, we use mostly #1 bulk red "stove oil." We gauge how each model is performing primarily by lack of odor but also look at flame height, color and on the radiants, how the converter is glowing.
Anyway, flame appearance seems to vary quite a bit between the various manufactures and models.
Does your new heater produce odor or just have a yellower flame? Kerosun, and most heaters have downloadable manuals available in pdf format. Here is a link to, hopefully, your model http://www.toyotomiusa.com/products/manuals/KSA-85.pdf.
Another excellant resource is Miles Stair Wick shop in Oregon.
Merry Christmas Don

Also Burning the Heater DRY wvery other Tank full will keep the Wick Clean ... A primary reason for this Flame problem it's not reaching the Efficient burning point,Wick has a Crud built up on it causing a no burn situation. Larry KF4LKU
