OT Music on YT mag

I really like the music that has been posted here; Larry, Lou, Allen and I guess Old Roy although I didn't see Roy's; where is it?
Is there any interest in a thread (from any of us that play music and/or own instruments) that would provide our instruments, our ability, our types of music we like, where we live, where we play, etc?

My feeling is that there is a hidden interest "out there" among tractor people, farmers and others who appreciate agriculture.

To those who have posted, do you use a digital camera with motion picture capability or do you use a full video camera? How do you post on YouTube? I'm a bit behind in my knowledge of computers and the posting of video on the internet.

Hi Ron,

Boy, I'm tellin' ya, I've been havin' a fit of a time.

Spent the last two mornings trying to record a video ('cause I promised) and my setup just flat out isn't working anymore.

Was using a laptop with a built-in cam. Now, fer some silly reason, I can't get it to save the files. Acts like it's running out of memory or some derned thing.

If someone would tell me how in the world to pull this off, you and I would both be happy.

There's just gotta be an easier way........ :>)

Allan

my friend did the recording for me with a digital camera, then he put it on you tube, he is good with computers, I am not ,. He said it was the least he could do ,for me helping butcher his chickens. lol

I'm not much help with how to post, but if I read correctly you are also wondering who out here might call themselves musicians (or at least hang out with musicians from time to time).

I guess I would fall in the musician category. I've been teaching orchestra to some wonderful public school youngsters for the last 10 years or so in TX and KS. I Began playing violin when I was 8 (26 years, wow, I haven't counted in a while). I always wanted to play other instruments too, but Dad said I had to master the violin first and then he would buy me something else. I guess I haven't mastered it yet!

I play in the Salina Symphony Orchestra to keep my skills up. I enjoy the "old-time" music of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven as well as Bluegrass and Jazz. I'll listen to just about anything once.

This forum always reminds me of the guys drinking coffee at the gas station in just about any small town one might stop in. I've always wanted to sit down with a cup of coffee and learn what I can from those folks, but of course never had the gall to actually try to invite my way into one of their conversations. Here I can listen and learn without interfering and dream of one day owning a little land to go with my recently inherited tractor.

I enjoy listening to your music. Keep up the good work! I'm not much help with tractors, but if you need a fiddle player, let me know.

Oh, and Merry Christmas!

I made a post a good while ago for a "YT band"
Then I posted for a camera and by reason of a member I bought a Cannon Powershot A560.
But had to get a bigger memory card.
I was surprised at the sound quality from a distance of about 10 feet.

I got a you tube account and youtube has a youtube for dummys and very well explains how to post a vid.

My music is very limited so I don't consider myself as a musician, but I can evidently Make ear pleasing sounds according to some real musicians on here.

This was my last attempt

Ron, Im a Novice level beginner 5 string bluegrass/country banjo picker wannabee. Im going to try and post a Banjo medley soon on You Tube and will inform yall then. Im NOT even in the same league as Allan but can sit in a Jam, keep time, and take a break (on basic/straight/simple songs) and hit many melody notes. I go to jams here in Southern Indiana and when at Tractor Shows like Florida Flywheelers in the winter. I WANT IN THE CLUB

Whadya do Roy, just use that tiny little mic in the camera to pick up the sound?

I've got a G9; wonder if it would work?

Have never even tried to make a video with the Canon before. Maybe I'm makin' this out to be harder than it is?

Allan

forgot to say it was done in an unfinished basement

so little acoustic value to direct it too mic.

You just brought back a very fond memory of the old general store that was in Barnard Pa was days there that some of the Guys and Girls would gather round the old pot belly stove and Play and sing or just sit and chat.

And yes anyone that wants to do something on here are welcome and singers too.

Looks like the "YT Band" Is gonna fly and Kirk Guru is going to be busy as he puts it together for a cyber band .

I never thought this would go this far and so many do enjoy what has been done so far.

But all the plows have been put away and all the tractor Questions are being answered. there are other interests. to keep others interested in watching the forum.

JD NEWBE. I'm sure the folks here would like to hear you play. I Know I would. Selection of music isn't so important i.e. JaZZ ,Bluegrass clasical,Country,Bosa nova and all others wouldn't have these good folks looking down their noses. Here on this site there are folks who truly appreciate all kinds of MUSIC . There is of course a varied interest ,but still all is appreciated. John is going to do a selection on his banjo so why not you?? Please consider it . Warmest reguards LOU/

Alan. I'm not a computer genious(sp) but after reading your post, I got to wondering how much memory your computer has left for holding stuff. I Was looking forward to your musicial contribution to Y.T christmas song forum.Hope you get the problem fixed. Reguards LOU.

I've got a G9 Canon and I know the thing is "supposed" to take videos.

Gonna read the manual tonight and see if I can get in on this thing.

Allan

LOL I looked up that G9 and it should do anything you want including playing backup.

That is a Rolls Royce comparing it to my Ugo A560
