getting my name back to normal

Randi-IA

New User
hey all, Anybody know how I can change my registered name? I've been Randy-IA for years but the other day when I posted after an extended absence I inadvertently typed in my name with an I in place of a Y and I can't find where to eliminate it . Is it in a cookie? Any ideas?

If you look at this thread in "modern view" you'll see that Randi-IA registered on 12 Dec 2010, and has a total of 5 posts.

Log out, then log back in with your old handle. (Make sure you spell it right.) That should take care of it.

I already tried that. Didn't work since both names are registered now. I'll try again. I might have done it wrong again. Maybe I'm asking the wrong question . Is the name that pops up in a dialog box generated by my computer or is it due to a cookie ? I really am in over my head when it comes to computer issues. Thanks!

LOL Nope not yet . I just looked up and saw that it popped up with an i. Bummer. I've logged in and out three times . Changed it manually. Maybe I'll delete all my three day old cookies. See if that helps.

Randy, get in touch with YT support and they will help you, thats what i did when i mis spelled my name and Chirs at YT reset name and password. James

It is in your computer cookies. The auto complete feature just remembers what you typed in. It is meaningless to all of us, because you are still Randy-IA when you type that in. The other Randy might not even have a registered name, and no password. Jim

It's called "auto complete" It's a feature in your browser (like internet explorer or firefox) let us know what browser you are using and someone can tell you how to clear it. In Internet Explorer it's "tools" "Internet options" and under the "content" tab. Or just don't worry about it. Lots of times more than one option will pop up in the box, just use your mouse or arrow keys to select the one you want.

No, deleting your cookies won't fix it. It's your auto complete. It remembers what you type so you don't have to type it every time. But it also remembers anything you type wrong.
