A few more. The JD tractor and baler belong to a neighbor who bales for me, and the IH truck and trailer belong to a beef hay customer. The rest of the equipment is mine. Nice to look at pics from warmer days when the temps drop to the wrong side of 0.

Brandon, the hay being cut with the tractor and mower i call slough hay, mix of grasses, all wild, none planted, that can survive some flooding, the real tall stuff is very coarse, but the cows seem to like it...
Baler is a Claas 280 rotocut, make a 4ft wide bale, up to 51/2ft tall, it has a chopper in it for silage (haylage) which some years we make quite a bit of... it"s a great baler, but the company weren"t lying when they said it needs 90hp (pto)

I"d like to see some pics of the LARGE square bales they put up out west.
Travelled to Yosemite a few years ago and saw many BIG stacks of the LARGE bales along the way.
Didn"t see any of the baling gettin" done, tho.

we had 70 acres of oats, they were going to be for grain, but the wild oats outnumbered the "real" oats about 4 to 1, so i cut them for hay....

My first year, did not take a lot of pictures. I am baling with a 2550, a vermeer 605H, a Gehl 2175 moco and a Befco V-Rake. Also picked up a NH 68 late in the season. My farm hand is my 14yo daughter Michelle. She is so anxious to help, wanting to do more next year. She drives the tractor like a pro but not yet ready to let her run PTO equipment.

Michelle fighting with the 3-point hay bale hauler, boy do we like using the loader instead. So much easier.

Heading out to rake. I let Michelle rake one side of the field. She did very well.

My understanding is most baling is done at night in many western states, so that may be why you didn't see it being done. There are a fair number of the 'medium' square balers (about 30"x30"?) around here (western WI), but many of them are used for high moisture baling.

That NH baler sure looks familiar! I put in many hours with a 276, from about age 8 to 13 or 14 driving the Ford 7000 pulling it, then I 'graduated' to stacking on the wagon. The summer I turned 17 we bought a pair of haybaskets, and the next year the 276 was replaced with the 565 that we have now. The Ford 7600 was added to the fleet a couple years after that, and since it has a cab, it does most of the baling.

it is a MF 5465, 100HP pto and it will flat pull my 664 baler all day up my KY hills with the ac running and never blink
