O/T--Smells from childhood...

Just wondering what you all can remember from awhile ago just like it was yesterday. We have honeybees and every time we extract, that honey, wax aroma and such reminds me of my Grandpa's place when he did it. 30 yrs ago and I remember it exactly. He extracted in his basment of all places. Went in that basement 10 yrs after he was gone and it still smells like honey. He sold honey and vegetables for many years after retirement on Lake Ave. in Ft. Wayne, IN.

Hey Mr. Oliver Guy, do you remember/recall Indiana Decorative, just north of you in Waterloo?

The plant was relocated to Interstate 69 after they out-grew their downtown locations!

This is that Murray Guy!

Before I-D out-grew their downtown locations, they did silk screening and buffing, the castings were done around the corner!

Okey all of you tractor buffs, where were many if not most of the 60's Massey Ferguson's steering wheel hubs and hood casting's, casted, buffed and painted?

They also did a lot of John Deere castings as well as casting and buffing corvette headlight grills!

At Large54, you are good!

Let me drop a name, "Dangler"! Let me guess, did Kitchen Quip buy out Indiana Decorative?

I spent some time around Waterloo/Auburn! We were actually "Fishing Buddies"!

I think Ind Dec was bought by American finishing or some such corp. Kitchen Quip is still in business but I don't see how---just a fraction of what they once were.
Didn't know the Danglers but to the best of my knowledge Gracie was the one in charge.

At Large54:

If you know Gracie, then you know the Danglers!

Gracie toured me through the new enlarged operation once it was taken over and yes Gracie was in charge. Gracie's first Husband, Don Dangler started Indiana Decorative. Don was a really great guy, but passed away much too young.

Don and I kept the locals guessing whenever I was in town, more wonderful memories!!

I knew the family VERY WELL, VERY WELL!

I can only describe the smell as kinda musty with a hint of cigarette smoke and pipe smoke, but I alwyas loved the smell of the inside of my grandparent"s car. Every once in a while I"ll smell something close and the smell always takes me back to my childhood, hopping in their car when I got suprised by them picking me up from school for some reason and getting to spend the weekend with them.....Man I miss the good "ole days.........

I can't stand the smell of a new T-shirt. Brings back too many memories of sitting in school on the first day, hot, wearing new clothes including a new T-shirt. I HATED school and it was the LAST place I wanted to be. That smell still depresses me.

A full baby diaper still smells the same to me now as it did back then. They haven't improved on that one. Thats why when it comes to changing a diaper, if I'm doing it, we use the garden hose to neutralize first. And if its too cold for the garden hose like now, into the bed of the pickup so I can drive the little one down to the car wash and use their hose, foam brush, hose again, then vacuum without even having to take the dialper off. Costs about $5.00 total, but its $5.00 well worth it. How is it that commercials show smelless kitty litter boxes, but not diapers? Maybe I oughta try pouring kitty litter down in the diaper? Maybe can get a full day or two out of a diaper that way? Hmm, I may have just come up with a real solution there. Don't none of you guys be stealin my idea now.

The sights and sounds and smells of an elevator are much different when you are a midget!
