Another cow question.

We used to, until we quit dairying. We were awful careful about loose hardware, wires, etc.
What they don't eat can't hurt them. Hardware disease is a serious problem to a bovine.

I used one a few years ago on a 600 lb. feeder calf I bought that the vet and I suspected had ingested a piece of hardware.

IF

We do it to all of our dairy heifers when they are checked preg. We milk almost 700 head so its a lot of magnets. I feel it is well worth the money. For beef cows I am not sure, but it cant hurt them.

we do but only one never more the can pinch the in side of the stomach and kill them. we bought a cow and it died so we went looking and the insides were infected because of two magnets

I used to do that when we had wire tie bales but all our bales are string tied and we keep our place clean of hardware so we haven"t any sort of problem-yet! However if a cow can find a staple, a nail, or an old piece of wire to swalloww, Murphy"s Law says she"ll do it.
