Posted a week or so ago about the feasability of taking apart and cleaning/repairing a CAV injection pump on this tractor. Definately got some conflicting opinions.
Decided to try it.
Found that pump to not be overly complicated. The 2 pistons that actually pump the fuel to the injectors were stuck. Pressure from the primary pump is all that pushes them out and a roller against a cam of sorts pushes them back in. Spent a few hours yesterday with the pump.
Put it back on today, bled it, and it actually runs. As far as the pump is concerned, it runs pretty good. Definately have a few other issues to tend to though.
I just wanted to let you know how it worked out. Cost me $31 for the seal kit delivered to my door. I figure the $400 or so I saved can be spent on some of Massey's other issues now.
