Installed a new Honda GX620,bolted in good but can not get it to fire on both cyls. I have spark, gas, correct valve adj.,good compression. I have also put in new coils and new spark plugs. The left hand ex.port stays cold when running. This is electronic ignition. What May I be over looking? I know that it is hard to diagnose on here but thought someone may have run into a problem like this. The people that i puchased this engine from are trying to help me in the worst way but have not put a finger on the cure yet.

Thanks for any and all help.

You have to be missing one of the 3 ingredients, either spark, gas, or compression.Did you do an actual compression test?

Just a guess. On briggs and stratton twins there is a diode in the harness i think. This diode is for the kill wire. It is for grounding both coils out but in the run mode it isolates the 2 coilsso it will run. If this diode goes bad it runs on one cylinder.Could Honda be the same, i dont know. This info is worth exactlly what you paid for it.

Have you pulled off the plug wire on the cylinder that's cold while the engine is running to see if its firing? If its firing check your compression and compare the readings. If your one cylinder has low compression it usually means you have low intake manifold vacuum since both are related. You need good manifold vacuum to suck that fuel into the combustion chamber. Yes,I did an actual comprssion test and it is running about 80 lbs compared to 90 lbs on the other cyl. Thanks

Hal,Yes I have checked the actual spark while it is running and I do have spark there.
After my first posting I got to thinking abought the manifold, maybe a gasket slipped at assy time time or something. That Will be one of the first things that i will check. Thanks
