Chain of events........bad for one could be for another

Guy my wife works with got married a couple years ago and bought a house. Used up the firewood pile that came with it last winter. Like every homeowner with a man card, he's gonna cut his own firewood. After he got his saw bought and ready to go, he decided he had to get the wood home somehow and he always wanted a tractor. Only thing he could find affordable was a 67 HP IHC 724 (German model). Got it and decided (prolly the wife decided) he couldn't keep that ugly thing close to the house. So, his buddy has a shop and is an expert. Tractor gets stripped of just about every piece that will unbolt, gets brushed, scraped, primed, and ready to paint. Wife has a baby in the midst and decides papa needs to spend more time with the family and alots him "2 or so hours a couple times a month" for the tractor. Means by the time he gets to his buddy's place gets the shop warm and opens a beer, its time to pack up and go home. Buddy is getting tired of the tractor (which by now is almost completely painted) in his way. Tractor owner is deciding he don't really need a tractor cause when he complains around my wife and the other women around, they take up for his wife.
My wife sat next to him at the company Christmas party Friday and mentioned that we'd be interested in buying the tractor and it would be close by for him to drive if he wanted to take it to a show or something so he could show off his work. He's never drove the tractor in the year he's had it. We'll see.

Sounds Interesting Dave. After looking at your photos of your place and the land you go on to take care of your pals(horses),I can understand the need for a bigger tractor. Not to big mind you,(due to the trees) but a unit that would really work for you ,doing the chores that are needed done.Hope that makes sense.A tractor big enough to do the haying, watering etc, would be really benificial .I"m sure that you could find such a tractor that meets your needs, without you having to go through what we did with "OLD UGLY".The time we spent was a blast for me,working along side with my Son made it all worth while. We use it for a lot of projects other then farming chores (as you know, we don"t farm),but It sure as He-- is handy to have when projects come along that needs a piece of equiptment that can pull, lift drag etc.Same story with the O.C 46 crawler. Your operation would require a tractor that would do everything
needed to make the work faster, easier, more efficiant in time spent. This might be the tractor you could use,( the one you described in your post) so if the price is right and it"s put together correctly, I say GO FOR IT!!! Any way ,Hope it works out .HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND THE MRS.WARMEST REGUARDS LOU & VICTOR & FAMILY.

It sounds like you would be doing the guy a favor. Not to mention getting a cool IH in the process. A win for eveyone!

If any of you are with a woman that will not cooperate UNLESS you kowtow to her commands, you are with the wrong woman, bottom line!
No more than a man should be the Commander-in-Chief in a relationship, nether should a woman. And the whole concept of a woman holding back "affection" if she does not get what she wants or get her way is very childish and has no place in any healthy adult relationship.
Grow some grapes, my friend. (and I do not mean the kind that require grape pickers LOL)
If you need the tractor (you should still need it if you needed it prior to the baby arrival), then negotiate some reasonable time to finish it.
If she balks and places you on a "spend time with the family" guilt trip, I will predict your divorce will be down the road. A person doing these things is already proving that they are not happy or truly in love with you, just in love with maybe being a wife, a mom, having a "husband", etc.

Dave,i would get that tractor if you can use it.

And suggest to your buddy to grow a spine.
A man and woman are supposed to complement each other instead of one bossing the other.
I think my wife would be my ex if she tried a stunt like that.

Guess he was screwed from the beginning. German women tend to be the boss (when they are married to German men). He didn't get "permission" to begin with and told her about it while in the delivery room. Her mom had to take her to the hospital cause he was out getting the tractor. He can hold off on getting the spine until after he sells me the tractor.

Pretty nice looking tractors, probably cost you 8-10k

The one in question is 2wd without FEL. He paid 1800 for it. I figure about 2500-3k should get it. Needs the wiring gone over some so all the lights/horn works for inspection.
