Snow sifting into shed

The foam that was once under the tin at the peak on one of the polebarns is long gone and is letting quite a bit of snow in when it blows. What have some of you guys used to plug the tin up. Was thinking of using that expanding foam in a can, unless someone has a better idea. This picture is from last year, so far not too bad this year. Thanks for any replies.

Here in Michigan I get more durt and dust blowing in than snow. I have basically solved the problem by poking in small pieces of fiberglass insulation. It lasts forever, is not easily blown out, and not bothered by critters. It takes a bit of time to put in place but is super cheep.
Best wishes, Harvey

If the gap is 1/4" I would use urethane door and window sealer (14 oz tubes). If the gap is bigger, and the overlap is an inch or more, Great Stuff Foam will work well. Jim

Be careful when using the aerosol foam, if you use too much it will actually raise up the tin, etc. They do make some of it that is labeled door and window sealer that does not create as much force when it expands.

I got some foam strips at Menards and put in mine. It has held good now and is on the second year. Adhesive on one side. Kind of a hassle for an old fat guy like me to get up and loosen the ridge roll to install. No more snow in shed.

In my old home built machine shed, I used the 4' foam water pipe insulation. It wedges into the gap between the ends of the roofing metal and under the ridge cap. It's held up good for several years now.

In another building, the ends of the roofing metal were too far apart, and I used strips of 1" thick closed cell foam nailed to the bottom of the purlins. Purlins on that building lay flat. Don't really like that idea, cause the snow probably still gets in onto the top of the foam, but it seems to be causing no problem. So far.

I'm kinda disappointed in the foam that fits the contour of the roof metal. Some of it stays in place - some of it don't. Might be my fault for installing it wrong?

Thanks for the replies, the barn in the picutre is almost 40 years old and the foam that was under the tin is long gone. Might try some of these ideas instead of the expanding foam, thanks again.
