with the temporary white stuff that is almost gone...
looking in to and out of our place. To the right of and attached to the house across the street is where our horse trailer and hay machines are parked.

Just to give you an idea of how close the neighbors are. You'd be surprised how much livestock is/was behind these gates. Pics taken three ways from the front of our house (live at the cross of a T intersection)

Thanks for the pics Dave !
Kind of combination village and farm land. I see now by what you meant about farming several small tracts of land.

I guess this is the answer to the "Green Acres" thing where she likes the city life ? What a nice compromise .

Do most of your neighbors do the same ?

How well equipped are the towns for snow removal? It doesn't appear that they are in a big hurry to make the pavement dry, like around here.

Pretty good because everyone is responsible for the sidewalk in front of their house. Salt and plows run the main (state) roads and and everywhere public buses run and the county guy hits all the side roads and bike paths. Farmers with blades take care of the access roads if necessary but in weather like this, only me and a couple hunters drive on the roads and we have 4wd.

They all do/did. That's what makes it so nice. You seldom find a place alone outside a village and because there are so many small tracts there are public access roads so you can go everywhere without trespassing.

(quoted from post at 15:02:28 12/11/10) beautiful place Dave . is this weather average for this time of year ?
No, it's usually raining and muddy like it is now. All that pretty snow looks like a big slurpee.......

Beautiful pics. We are fortunate across the world that Mother nature blesses us whith her beauty. Much less fortunate when she turnes her wrath on us. There's an old saying, "Don't mess with mother nature!" That being said the human race is messing with her, Weather is changing and these weather events won't always be seen as pics. of beauty, but pics of her imense distructive power. Sort of makes me wonder what is in store for our future. Again, thanks for bringing your peice of the world to all of us on this side of the pond, with the great pics. and regular comentary. Enjoy the holidays. The Acg.

Nice pics.

We are in the middle of a blizzard here in Minnesota, a real one of old days. Be Sunday until I can get out.

Now, any snow we get in Nov or Dec will still be here in arly March, it stays too cold to melt away. Every wind, it just blows new - and some old - snow deeper & deeper off the prairie & into the yards and driveways.

We are gonna be pretty grumpy by March, just fair warning, going to be a long winter in these parts. :)

great pics, we are supposed to have 12+ inches from tomorrow to mid Monday -- just another excuse to start tractor and play (except for temps are to be single digits:() talk about close houses, guess you gotta have good curtains

Dave. All humor aside, The pictures are breathtaking. I really enjoyed em. Looks like a cozy neighborhood, and the scenery and the horses pictures says it all. Sure would like to pay you a visit. Now comes the humor. Keep the snow there,we have enough of it to last us through the winter months. WARMEST REGUARDS !! LOU .

Thanks for the pictures. BUT kinda think Claustrifobia is workin on your people skills!

Jim (WiFi at Hooters) LOL

PS: Started my Chistmas shopping today.

Had the wife get new tires on our "UGLY" pickemup truck! Look's like we're good for another 60,000 miles!

Usually pretty intertaining. Today, all the snow is melting. Immediate neighbor isn't the brightest and was out shovelling his walk. His house has a real steep roof. He finished, knocked his shovel against the gate post to clean it and yelled at one of his dogs. Can you say avalanch?????
I was about 10 feet away and when I saw him stand back upand look OK, I mustered my best people skills and concerned look and said "uhhhh, bet that's cold" smiled and kept shovelling....... A person of lesser skills would have laughed..........

You bought that thing????????????? I feel lunch coming up

Thanks for the pics Dave, I wouldent know the beauty of your area if not for this forum. Its neat to see what other folks have going on. Thanks again, JayinNY.

Those pictures are beautiful and I'm sure the community is great. I just couldn't live that close. I suppose you can become accustomed to it, however since my near neighbor is a mile away it would probably be difficult for me and my critters.
Thanks for sharing because I really enjoyed them.

Nice pictures and they brought back memories from when I was in Germany in 1970 to 1972. I lived in a small town like the one in your pictures and was amazed at how livestock wqs raised in town. I was stationed at Kaiserslautern and lived in Hochspeyer. Where is that fron you?

(quoted from post at 17:25:01 12/11/10) Can you speak german?

Not as good as I should....... Grammer kicks my butt. Words are not the problem, it's putting them together in understandable sentences. First 9 years here I spoke hardly any. After meeting/marrying the wife I got a little more exposure with her family but really had to get cracking when we bought the place and started having to deal with folks. Got real aggravating having to carry her around as a translator.

That' d ist, wenn Sie auf Deutsch antworten konnten, keine von würde wissen kühl, was Sie Sprechen! LOL
