TD 6 Crawler engine

I have a 1949 crawler. I need to know what year farmall md engine is compatable. Can anyone help?

All of them, except you will have to change the front cover.
 
I"m sure it just slipped rustyfarmalls mind, but there are a few other things to consider. You will also need to change the mounting plate on the rear of the engine as well as use the flyhweel from the TD6 to facilitate the starter. The oil pan and oil pump on the crawler engines are designed to allow operation an steeper grades than is the MD wheeled tractor, so those should be swapped as well. Also, the crawler engine uses a dipstick to measure the oil level, whereas the Farmall uses petcocks located on the pan which are not accessable if the crawler has a belly pan. There is a spot on the MD engine that can be drilled and tapped to accept the drop tube and dip stick.

I have a friend who has made this swap several times.

As the other posters have said, the basic engine is compatible but several parts from the crawler engine must be used.

Might as well use an engine from a Super MD.
