If you don't like the weather in Germany....

Wait 20 minutes............
Last night/early this morning gave us 8-16 inches of snow in my little piece of the world which was wierd in itself because there was 4 inches difference in less than a half mile. Called for another 6 last night. Started to snow real heavy, got about a half inch together, warned up 10 degrees and started raining. Whole country isn't like this, just this area in the center . Don't know if it's all the industry or that we just have freaky weather. Either way, the tiptoeing through the snowflakes that the wife and I had planned for today is canceled.

Ditto. The other night it was -15 degrees Celcius here in The UK and I was trudging through deep snow with layer upon layer of warm clothing. The dog thought it was great fun even if I didn"t!
Last night when I took my dog out it was 8 degrees, the snow was melting like crazy and I was wearing a lightweight jacket, no scarf, no gloves.

Mid 20s Celcius, clear blue sky, 3 call outs today,(Saturday) 1 front pto slipping, 1 hydraulic linkage wont lift, 1 rear axle shaft bearing after hitting an irrigator stand pipe with a mounted mower. my last weekend on shout before Christmas. Keep your toes warm all you boys in the Northern Hemisphere.

hey Dave2
I read where you are putting on a pair of 12-28 tires on your tractor. Do you need chains? Last year I bought new chains for my Ferguson TO30, used it 4 or 5 times to scrape my gravel driveway, and then this summer, I sold it. Now I have two tire chains, that are like new, that I can't use. Make me an offer if you want them. I spent like 250.00 for them, but I'll take any reasonable offer. Ron

We are in the beginning of a modest ~12" snow storm with 35 to 40 mph gusts. Not exceptional in central MN. Subaru Outback, 57 Jeep CJ3B, Snow Blower and 17 year old with good muscle power and willingness to work. (he says hello) Jim

Dave---one of my boys lives in Berlin---he said it has been snowing for 3 days----

WI is bracing for a pretty good dose of the white stuff today--

Where are you located in Germany?

Tim

Shipping 140 lbs to Germany would make this a pricy endeavor. I wonder what chains go for over there. It might be worth it!

Thanks. I have some though. lucked out and got a set on ebay for 15 bucks.

(quoted from post at 05:19:01 12/11/10) did you get all your stuff inside at the nice old ladys place in time before that big snowfall?

Yes and no.... It's all in now but it snowed about 4 inches on it first. All snug and dry now though and I even have a little extra room for 4 round bales so I can have them close to home for nasty weather (5 mile RT for 1 bale at a time gets a little breezy on bad days)
We are happy now.

About 300 miles SW of him in (just outside) Schweinfurt. They get considerably harder weather up there.

Do they still manufacture ball bearings in Schweinfurt?

Gene

If you see any bearings marked with SKF, they came from Schweinfurt along with Sachs clutches, struts, shock absorbers. Most of the Bosch spark plugs and a bunch of bosch components. The rubber seals and bushings in any sachs and SKF products you run across is made/infected by the company my wife works for.

Christoplel was his last name and I think someone said years ago it might be in the Alps area but I am not sure. He told me one time that area had been in there family a long time and was known as Christoplel Village , but this was many years ago and I could be wrong. Grandfather was a Christoplel and grandmother was a Kirkendall so I think I have a we bitt of German in me. Bandit

Sorry. The name turns up all over. Quite a bit in my area also. There are gasthauses and hotels with the nameturning up across Southern Germany
but I don't find a town. Wife comes from deep Bavaria and they have different words down there (south is the south I guess no matter what continent you are on. Think every country has a west Virginia also  .
She may be able to turn up something.

Dave any help would greatly appreciated. Here is a picture of one of my tractors that came from your neck of the woods. I thought you might get a kick out of it, Not many of these in my area at all, Only one I know of. Bandit
