OK promised Lou to audition. been a few years for me too.---- nervous as a three legged cat in a room full of spilt tacks.

Sorry for the dry start... would have liked our fiddle player start it off-- but he just passed away less than 6 weeks ago
Merry Christmas

Sounds good me; glad you figured out how to create and share your video with us.

Might want to consider changeing/updating your alias to [b:654c4848f0]Old Roy Clark[/b:654c4848f0].

Thanks for sharing your song with us.

OLd ROY, ALRIGHT !!!!! Great sound. What A voice. Your a natural. Enjoyed your christmas music. Thanks a bunch. Got a feeling that when everyone gets to hear your video, it'l be rave time for you. KUDOS PAL. Musicaly yours LOU.

Thank you very much Lou-- I'm not as confident as I once was, and without the band it's not the same.
As Allan pointed out drums, and bass are almost required to make the whole picture.

I especially thank you for your kind reply.
most professionals would like to kick a guy.

I never could read that chicken scratchin they call music so all mine is by ear.

Roy I must say I was never much for competition ,unless it was against MY SELF. I will say that No matter how good one thinks he or she is, around the corner, over the mountain ,there is some one better.I have known better players then me,and what I"ve learned is that they were devoted to their art. WIlling to share their talent and knowledge is where it"s at. Most are gone now and I"m left with no one to teach me what I"ve been missing all these years. Don"t mean to get HEAVY but My time in the music field is well passed.LIke you, I"m self taught since age 3 and again like you , I don"t read (what you call)chicken scratching. lol. I kind of chaneled my remaining time to tractors and crawlers. My son and I have such a great relationship .that we share information about lots of things. However I do want you to know I talk the talk, walk the walk when it comes to music, with my observations in players, artists, if you will. What you do Is certainly well worth displaying. I"ve enjoyed your music video and would certainly encourage you to continue. Keep the Music going. Warmest reguards LOU

Old Roy, Thank you so much for sharing the video with us on the tractor site. This is Larry's wife and I need to let you know how beautiful the music is especially at this time of the year.
Merry Christmas to all and God Bless all.

You did a great job, much like my father in law, plays and sings and still at it at 80 years old, lost part of ring finger about 10-12 years ago, says it makes it easier to chord now :) Have a Merry Christmas my friend

GREAT Thanks Roy n Merry Christmas

I gotta get up nerve and record a bit of my banjo pickin as a beginner novice rookie grrrrrrrr

I also loved the songs message, lets all "Keep Christ in Christmas" and remember "Jesus is the reason for the season" and despite how much the far left Libs dont like it, CHRISTMAS IS A FEDERAL HOLIDAY EVEN

God Bless yall

I have been watching these YT Band posts with great interest/amusement. I wish I had the skills/software to put together some sort of composite video.

I toss this out kind of hoping someone else will pick it up and run with it if they are so inclined. It would be awfully fun to get everybody interested to record "tracks" of the same song and have somebody edit it and put it together, given the time of year I would think a carol of some sort would be nice. Could be serious or silly depending on the whims of whoever volunteers to do it. I know we have enough variety of instruments to get most everything covered. Vocalists could do backup parts/lead as they like. I have no idea what would be required for editing software and what formats the various "parts" would need to be recorded or converted to, but we have so many skills represented here I am sure somebody could probably take the lead and do this.

Just a thought, I will go back to lurking now.

Hey, nice shot, Roy! Kirk's idea is intriguing, but certainly above my pay grade, technology-wise. If anybody ever takes it on, I've been a barbershop quartet singer for 40 years, and can harmonize to anything.

Whats up with? I heard now they want you to say happy holidays, instead of Merry Christmas.??? I guess a religous thing.. My family says Merry Christmas still, and always will.

Same here the Libs hate it too, they want to force and impose their beliefs an all others yet they are the ones who preach tolerance and diversity lol

Count me in....... I give Seminars at a few national shows like Gathering of the Green in Moline Illinois or New York Two Cylinder Expo in Canandagiua or maybe Two Cylinder in Iowa

lets do this, be there or be square

This is entirely possible. There is a program you can download for free called Audacity. It is a multi track recorder which allows you to lay down a track, then play it back and put another one down with it. I am not sure what the limitations are but I have had 8-10 tracks recorded. You could potentially play every instrument yourself and provide the vocals and the harmony. But you could lay down just one part of a song then send the saved file to another member and he/she could open it on their computer and add their own track to it. Then when it's all done someone could adjust the levels of each musician and master it to a MP3 format then everyone could listen to it. There are microphones you can get that have a USB plug on the end that just plug right in to your computer.
I played around with it a bit last winter and I'm no professional musician by any means but I was pleased with the results.

I will see if I still have anything on my computer when I get home. Probably later this evening as I am taking my wife out for supper for her birthday.
I just played around with a few song intros.

Its going to be a long cold winter so we may have time to do one ... would be interesting.

Could you do a lead on something easy, and well known, and take out the background for others to fill in place of it?

Do a couple "walk a rounds" (for lack of better words) for other instruments to take the lead ?

Can you pull it off the posts, and put it together?

Thinking we may have more lead singers... do you have options to change voices to do harmony ?

I remember a machine awhile back My brother had tried out. It made 1 voice into a 5 part harmony but you had to change chords with your foot...couldn't get the hang of it.

I agree but I likely won't have time until after Christmas.[/color:e45c3ea63c]

Possibly, I haven't played around with it to that extent. I was thinking if someone could count it off to start with then add say a rhythm guitar or some strumming, then the next person could add their vocals, the next person add bass or percussion etc. I have never played in a band so without everyone in the same room I'm guessing it might get complicated.[/color:e45c3ea63c]

Can you pull it off the posts, and put it together? It would probably be easier to email the file to others. It is only editable (or addable) when it is in Audacity's own format so to pull each person's contribution from the posts and put them together wouldn't work. [/color:e45c3ea63c]

Thinking we may have more lead singers... do you have options to change voices to do harmony ? Not too sure, again, haven't played around with it enough to know. I'm sure there is something in the program I have used or another one. [/color:e45c3ea63c]
