OT Plugging a good auto parts dealer.

I just finished a complete front brake job on my '96 F-350.
For the most part I support my local auto parts dealer, but on major purchases, I shop around.
Stumbled across rockauto.com while looking for some answers to an unrelated problem. My parts cost less than HALF what they would have from the local outfit. Name Brand, high quality parts.
Parts shipped from 3 different locations, but all showed up the same day, 3 days after I ordered them. Customer service was exemplary.
They sell TONS of parts for all auto manufacturers.
I am in no way affiliated with this company.
Check them out the next time you need auto parts.

i use them but when they ship from different locations they charge you the shipping from each place just because they don't have them in stock all in one place. lots of places will ship free

Scratchin my head, can't understand--
title says pluggin a good auto parts dealer.

I've plugged some good tires before,
I'm confused...

I agree, it'd be ideal if they had everything in one warehouse, but considering the price on their parts, I was glad to pay a few bucks for shipping. $23 for 50# worth of parts shipped from Texas isn't too bad.
I just paid $14 for shipping from IL for 2oz worth of special O rings that took 2 weeks to be delivered. Send me an Email if you'd like a BAD review of Banner Beer products Co.

Sometimes I wic=sh I could take advantage of deals like that, but when something of mine tears up, that I depend on everyday, I dont have time to wait for parts. My local guys, if they done have it in stock, have it the next day, and for the most part, I dont pay shipping.

I've had mostly good experiences with Rock. I started buying from them after O'Reilly bought out the regional Murray's Auto Parts: I screwed around with O'Reilly for a week before they told me they couldn't get an A/C compressor for my '92 Seville. They (O'Reilly) said none were to be found anywhere in the country at any price. Two days later Rock delivered one to my doorstep.

Personally, I'd much rather deal with local auto parts stores than wait for parts to be delivered. But it seems like the big chain stores take your business for granted.

I usually open two windows and use rockauto and discountautoparts.com.
When both carts are full and ready for checkout, i go with the cheaper. If Rock ships from a NY area warehouse, I usually get my stuff in less than a week.

Northern Auto Parts (naparts.com) in Sioux City, Iowa is also good, particularly for engine kits, but have a lot of other parts at great prices.

Do not confuse Northern Auto Parts with Northern Tool. From personal experience, one of their engine rebuild kits was about 2/3 the price of the same parts at a local NAPA store. Same name brand parts, Perfect Circle rings, Clevite bearings, Felpro gaskets, etc. Obviously before you order one of their kits, you need to know your cylinder oversize and your crankshaft undersizes.

They also have a lot of high performance and custom parts. You can sign up for free catalogs by going to their website.

Sorry for the misunderstanding--
I was trying to shed a little humour.
Didn't do a very good job this time.
Oh well, I tried...

Thank you sir. Sometimes I get to wonderin' about myself.
But then again, sometimes I figure as long as someone laughed,
even if it was just me, then it was worth the attempt...
