O/T, Sold the woodsplitter!! Made more room inside

I bought a homemade woodsplitter about 10 years ago for $300. Had a crane, tool box and a few other fancy things. Spent some money on it and just decided to see if it would sell at an auction. Went for over $900! I have enough split for at least 3-4 years for our family and Mom and Dad. Guess I don't have to keep that dude dry in the barn anymore, have a little more space. Guess I'll buy another in 4 years. Everybody like those vertical/horizontal ones? Sure look handy.

Yep, I bought a horizontal/vertical splitter last year, and my only regret is I waited this long to do it. works, great, splits anything, and is a real saver on the back. I split some huge oak chunks a few weeks ago that I'm sure weighed close to 300lbs. Worked flawlessly!

It' cheaper to buy a new one than one at auction.
I've seen several sell for more than a new one cost at auctions.

Wouldn't dare sell ours.WE use it every year for 20+ cords .We built this one from scratch. Vertical horizontal as well.Could have sold it 10 times over. Saves the back ,arms, shoulders, fingers and other parts of the body (if you mis swing) lol. Here's a picture of the one we built.back in 2004. LOU.

You mean like this? I can run it vertical or horizontal. Its nice for large chunks, to run it vertical.

Maybe there 16-9-30? And when I put the roll bar on they will sit up 2" higher. maybe the picture makes them look ugly?

Dunno why, but Ultra really dislikes the flattops. I prefer them, myself. My 4600 has flattops and 16.9x30's just like your 4610. You do know they're adjustable for different heights, right? Looks like yours are set a notch or two higher than mine.

My fenders are used off a 5610. I think you can lower the fender on the bracket that mounts to the axle?? right? Nice picture, I never seen a 4600 with duals

Right. 2 bolts per fender, IIRC. The duals are just for flotation - helps keep the hay fields smooth... although I've also found that, with them on and a round bale on the 3-point forks, it takes a LOT of mud to stop it!

If you have a skid steer buy one for it. My brother bought one last year that you can turn the splitting wedge up or down. In the down position you can just set in the skid steer and split the wood on the ground and never touch it. We then put up the pallet forks and stack the wood on wooden pallets. He just carries the pallets into his shop as he needs wood. Only touch it to stack and throw in the stove.

I really liked the flat-tops on my Oliver- great for leaning on, eating your lunch, putting your tools on, etc.

Gotta admit they were a little more graceful looking than the Ford ones, however.
