O/T Walmart Scam????????

I just got an email from Walmart saying I would be credited with $150 if I took a customer satisfaction survey. I went through the survey and found it to be very professionally put together.

THEN, to receive the $150 credit, they asked for your Social Security Number and credit card number. I was probably born at night, but I wasn't born last night. No way in he11 will I give out my SSN or credit card numbers to even Walmart just because they email me and ask for them.

Has anyone else run into this?

Sounds like someone went to a lot of trouble to plan that but I'm sure Walmart would never ask for that information over the phone. Maybe the credit card info if you phoned their customer service over an error or correction but not the other way around. Why would Walmart need your SSN unless you were hired to work there? It sounds like a scam that elderly people might fall for. Is there any way to report the e-mail address to authorities? Dave

It still may have not come from walmart. Hit reply and see what address is in the reply address block, probably a Yahoo or Hotmail.

I just won 1000000 british pounds from the
microsoft award team in england.Darned if i can remember entering a contest though. If your going to get scammmed those 150 buck ones are the way to go.

Get one of those rechargable credit cards at wally world to use for these types of things.
Keep just a few dollars in it.

It is likely a scam though pretty big bucks for taking a survey.

Same addie, [email protected]. I asked if it was a scam and hit "Reply".

I'm not taking it seriously, I'm just curious. If they want to give me $150 for taking a survey they can do it without my SSN or credit card number.

i would run a thorough virus and trojan scan on your computer...clicking into that type of scam can install programs without your knowledge...they specialize in stealing your banking passwords.

Return email addresses are easily spoofed. If you examine the actual message headers I'm sure you'll find the email didn't originate with Wal-Mart.
