We have had a nice mild fall here and it would have been a great time for several baby calves to drop. I checked on the cows Monday night and there was only one little healthy baby. It rained about 2" Tuesday and that night still only one. Last night it rained 2 more inches and turned very cold (24 degrees).Snow was flying
this morning along with a steady cold wind. I checked them again as soon as I got out and there were 5 more babies. They were all healthy and happily bouncing around. Even more surprising was three of them were from first time mothers. It was good to see everyone healthy and happy . Maybe the old girls did know what they were doing after all.
