Anyone know how to tell if the metal seals are correctly installed between #1 clutch and 2, 3. The seals are on the planetary shaft and the shaft that goes through the planetary. Tractor is split at the rear end. Any help on knowing how to get them installed without wrecking them and installed correctly would be appreciated. thx

When the late Carl Davis did his SOS assembly demonstration he would install those seals on the shaft with the gaps at the top so that the gap would be down in the groove when he pushed the shaft into place. By having the gap at the top, down in the groove, the ends of the seal were "protected" from snagging on something as the shaft was slid into place.

I was told and did pack grooves with vasaline or lubriplate to keep sealing rings centered.
