I was wondering if i put the 1000pto in my john deere 4020 i could achieve a slower tractor speed while maintaining 540rpms on the blower. Just a thought that came across the breakroom table today.

Less speed, also less HP. Gain about as much as you will loose.
Some of those tractors were sorely lacking a slow reverse and creeper 1st gear.

I hear you. I was looking at a hydro IH and I think I should have gone that direction.

I think I would keep the engine wound up and run it at 540, that gutless 404 makes 0 ft. pounds of torque at half throttle.
