Racoon bait

We set out some bait for the coon, and there was alot of mud tracks going into old buildings with piles of dung all over.

I have done this before, and always got some.

This time no luck, and was wondering if we got carried away with the poision / pop ratio?

This is the first time I used the blue, always had the yellow stuff.

Lets just use a 12 fluid oz can of pop for a base --how much poision?

They seemed to ignore the drink, so we was wondering if to much poision spoiled the drink?

I intend on placing some dog food in a live trap that is wired shut so they can smell the dog food, but can't get at it.

I also figure the dog food will give them something to do after the drink, so they don't get to far away. The reason is, there are lots of places close by to die in, and never be seen.

I figure on mixing some antifreeze in the mixture so it does't freeze till it gets drank.

Thanks in advance.

Try grinding it up and mixing it in with crunched up baby pig pellets.Keep your pets away from it.

ive always had good luck with a live trap baited with a healthy dose of peanut butter, followed by a healthy dose of .357 mag

Stinky fishy cat food usually brings 'em. I usually set a conibear 160 or 220, and throw the bait into a groundhog hole, behind the trap, but don't do this where there's cats/witnesses!

We always used beer and yellow marlin bait. Busch Light to be exact. Don"t know why that brand (parents drink Miller and I drink Stag). Coons and opossums only make it a few feet.

yep they do like those sardiens my friend has a wearhouse that has lots of racoons a live trap with sardiens worked, also had my dog over there and he sniffed a family out we got them with a .22 loaded with bird shot good luck roumer has it that golden marlin and some grape nehi works....

I have trapped coons to use to train dogs in a cage. I have used marshmellows. I have not caught any skunks or possums.

My favorite. Drink half of beer, put other half in scrap bottom of water bottle. Set this in the live trap with two chunks of potato. Gets a coon every nite. Let them loose out back, if they make it to the woods so be it. Only missed two so far...
