Hi folks:
Chow OR as the mainland Chinese call them San SHI QUAN (phonetically spelled ) fro pronunciation, are more than a good looking dog. They are a wonderful assist dog. Strong, Intelligent, Quiet, Peaceful, not ruffled by noises such as gun shots and Remembrance day. Their strength is phenomenal for those with balance problems. Ours Is trained for just such a task. She is cinnamon, 3 years old and for-goodness sake don't leave a ball of wool on the floor; as my wife found out, cats are no match for her ability to play with wool , or for that fact even balloons (she knows the difference between materials and instinctively how to handle the.Best of the day to you

The Chow Taz we lost to cancer would shake a paw with you, she could open the chain link gate and I had to put a safety rope on it and she would open the kitchen cabinet doors with her paw looking for a chewy bone. Hal
 
Great picture! We had a large black male for 14 years named Kuma. Also had a cinnamon female named Kia. He was friendly as heck and she was mean as a snake, would kill any animal in her yard. How's yours? Mike

She chases all the squirrels out of the back yard, but when they hear the click on the lock on the sliding door they head for the trees with Sug on their tail. Hal
 
Maybe I just met the wrong ones, But I never met a Chow I liked.. When I was a kid, my Mom was attacked by one, very lucky she was not hurt too badly.
One that a neighbor had ran loose here for years,recently. Animal control came by several times a week, but never could catch the demon. People could not even go outside, without a stick, or pepperspray. But A/C told us we WOULD be arrested if we harmed the satanic critter. Thankfully, it went off to Doggy Hades a few years ago.. I was happy to volunteer my skidsteer to dig a hole for it..

Sorry for my views, Hopefully there are some good chows..
 
Ya know Davis, I have been bitten years ago when we moved to Texas. Took Rabies shots. Painfull for a 10 year old kid to go through. I find that most, and I mean most Dogs ,reguardless of breed isnt born vicious. Their made vicious by the owners /Kids. Any way I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience with that breed. I personally find em to be gentle,loving and Good companions. JMHO

I'm not a fan of the chow. Many years ago my neighbor, a single mother with a teenage daughter, owned a big chow. One morning, apparently without provocation, the dog bit her daughter on the a**. That was the last I saw of that dog.

Now my son has chow mix who is a very smart and friendly dog. We sometimes keep the dog, and I've found that delivery men and meter-readers are terrified of it. We would leave him untied because he wouldn't leave the front doorstep when we were gone. One day I came home to find a UPS delivery hanging from the branch of a tree; apparently the UPS guy had no intention of getting out of his truck with a chow in the yard. This never happened with our Chesapeake.
 
You can see this pup is already being on guard as she runs the fence line. The other Chow was the same way and she never made up with my wife's sister and her husband. She would stay away from them like they had the plauge. Hal
 
The one in the red basket dosent even look real! It looks like a stuffed anmial for a kid, lol. J
