Dear lads
I have a deutz tractor that what always smoked a blue smoke when you rev it up. it is not using any oil. I always thought it was the injectors because the tractor never works hard. When I use it hard this week now only at start up it smokes a puff of black smoke also it stopped the blue smoke for a few days it is now coming back and man it burns the eyes what is wrong with it and will it hurt it if it is not fixed

I also think you have a injector leaking a little. A
leaking inj can burn a piston. I would check them
first.

Hello matt agnel,
Blue smoke is an indication that engine oil, a little or a lot, is entering the conbustion chamber. A little will have no aprreciable oil consumtion, a lot and you would be adding oil.
Black smoke is an indication of incomplete combustion. Its either too much fuel, or not enough air. In you case it sounds as if you have an injector valve seat leaking, and while stopped fuel accumulates in to the cylinder.
This is what is making the smoke black at start up.
If the smoke clears right up, then the leak is small, if it takes awhile then it keeps leaking untill the smoke clears.
You may try adjusting all the valves and see if it clears up. A weak combustion pressure on one cylinder, with late valve timing, may be at fault.
Cheaper that going into the fuel system.
Good Luck.......................Guido

Is it the 912 or 913 series engine? A friend of mine has an 8006 w/the 912. The injection-pump on the 912 has its own oil-resevoir and can suck oil into the diesel. It started blowing a little blue smoke so we had an upper-rebuild on it and it still puffs a little blue. The 913 series injection-pump lubricates with the engine's oil-pump.
