work is still slow , but my boss called and said come get your turkey, It has been his stepdads tradition to give employees turkeys at thanksgiving for many years and it is really thoughtful of him,. Since my wife, daughter and I go to the nursing home for thanksgiving dinner and then to visit my mother in law in the late afternoon I will cook the turkey today. It was fresh not frozen and I diidnt want to freeze it, Hate to tell everyone , but while its cooking I might as well clean the house, might as well get usaed to it the wife is out working and im home.

I love those pecan pies. One of the men that use to post on here lives in Alabama and has pecan trees sent me a big box of pecans after telling him what to do to get his tractor's engine in time and running. I never thought I would ever get finished cracking those pecan shells. My wife froze most of them and she vacuum sealed them. We had pecan pies too. Hal

YUM!!!

Since there will only be 4 of us, I'm not fixing a turkey, but got Cornish hens (orange marmalade basting sauce), fresh asparagus with honey butter, wild rice, crescent rolls. Have a cream cheese with pineapple pastry planned for dessert.

If it needs doing, do it. Doesn't matter what it is, just get it done.

I left a reply for you Nancy ,on the post above, Happy thanksgiving to you and James and we are thankful that we met you here on tractor talk along with many others on this site

That is a great story!
Now if you would only flop that bird over and roast it dark meat up instead of breasts up, you will have a much moister bird. The fat from the dark meat will drain down into the white meat and moisten it...
Happy Thanksgiving!!
