Laptop engine error code scanner

I noticed a couple days ago a post for a engine error code scanner. Has anyone used a code scanner that plugs into a laptop computer? These devices use the USB port of the laptop and then plug into the OBD2 of the vehicle. ElmScan 5, OBDLink, and OBDPro are some of the names. They are quite abit cheaper then buying a scanner alone as long as you have a laptop computer. Sorry for the long post, any help will be greatly appreciated. Mark

The ones I have seen look pretty good but I think any good programming will cost $$$.

The ones that I listed come with free software that are supposed to find and clear the codes plus have other functions. I was just wondering if anyone used them before I bought one. I am tending toward the OBDPro.
