cracked block... How bad could it be?

Judging trom the link you are overseas. If I am right checking I have a complete nice running gas engine for $500.00 US dollars.
No way of knowing where the block is broken but since they did the head and did not fix it I would expect you are going to need at least a block.

Well to start off, you could figure the cost of another block and labor, or weld the block. Depends on where the crack is in the block, and then reassemble the motor. Then add in the price of the tractor. That will give you something to start with.

My german is not sufficient to decipher that.... I can see it says it's got a cracked block... but the usual problem with those things is actually a pinholed block which can often be repaired by simply boring and sleeving that bad cylinder. It will cost some money as it will require a complete teardown. I think it's overpriced at 2400 Euro, based on the market here... considering it needs major engine work.

You can use the same oil in the coolant as the crankase then the leak wont hurt anything. Its been done. Just how hard are you going to use the motor. We had a small leak in a WAUKESHAW engine in a fork lift and dealer said use same oil and its been that way for around 10yrs the fork lift isnt used for extended time and has worked verry well with no problems.

Hi Dave, if it has oil in the water the block is cracked in one of the internal oil ways and the block is scrap. Swoped a lot of blocks in these engines about 20 years ago. If you want a tractor come over to the UK and buy one then drive it onto the ferry. When you get off at your end and drive it home. MJ

I heard of some stuff called blue devel, around 75 dollars a bottle, would work or money back with receipt, mixes with antifrees , follow instructions.good luck,

Based on my experience, its pin holed. Also based on my experience thats about a 2400 USD repair to bore, sleeve, and get the short block reassembled. If you add say another 500 USD for small parts, oil, etc you would have around another 3000 in it. So, 6000-6500 for a good 4000, is that good or bad in your neck of the woods.

You wouldn't sh!t a guy would you??? That sounds interesting because the tractor wouldn't work any harder that moving round bales and operating a small square baler. Maybe a 5 ton wagon now and then. The shape this tractor is in, the price is about half or less than normal for here.
