I need a camera

OK I need something that takes good quality, correct sizing for posting Pics
Needs to be at least at a third grade level to understand the technology of how to set it up.

Our local Wal Mart has some interesting cameras , but every time I go there the clerk at the counter is so much older than the greeter.

They cant explain in layman's terms the Pixels and megapixel. I ask a kid about them and they talk about all aspects using strange words like Gamma goobers. ( well almost that bad ) I believe that to be reason for quality of final pic.
Can anyone tell me what to get for $150.00 Or less

Panasonic Luminex. Has everything you'll need and takes regular AA batteries. Bought one for the wife for $40 on Ebay about 3 years ago and she hauls it in her purse..the thing has shot several thousand pictures and survived a couple of drops.

Nikon Coolpix. Wal-Mart. Great camera. Easy to use. Durable. I have one, and I bought my mother one for last Christmas. She is NOT technology-inclined, but she loves this camera! It was her first digital camera. Get an SD card with it - little blue memory card. She takes the card to Wal-Mart to get photos printed.

cant help explain much, the girl at wal mart helped me I have kodak 12megapixels easy shareM530 and I plug it in to charge it ., but I dont know much about technical stuff so Iwish I could help you more.

I think most photos will have to be uploaded to a photo sharing site such as Photobucket before a link to them can be used here.

I don't know about other sites but Photobucket now has easy uploading IF you can find the desired file on your computer. I generally just drag the file or files I want to upload onto my desk top leaving them easier to find.

Once uploaded Photobucket has easy editing for cropping, and resizing. Drop down menu just at the top of the uploaded photo. Takes a few seconds for it to appear after you have gone to a different photo.

I expect any Easy Share Kodak will do what you ask of it. Key is reading through the manual at least once.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 12.0megapixels and 3.6x zoom it takes 2 AA's I is very simple and it cost 99.00 at WalMart.

I'll second the Nikon Coolpix "L" series - like the L20 or L22. (My wife has an L20 and she loves it...)

The Nikon L's will do all you want. Also good image quality, are simple learn, have a LARGE display (can see it without my glasses!), and runs on 2 plain old AA batteries.

Nikon L's can be found for under $100 at Target, Wal-Mart, Staples, Sears, etc.

I have a sony cyber-shot, its 3 years old and works good, but newer ones are most likley much better now. dunno.J

I have a Sony sure shot something or other. I really like it because of the rechargable battery deal. It has a bunch of settings that I would need a book to tell me what they mean. I set it for automatic and forget about all the other junk. Dixie has cheaper camera that takes the AA batterys but it takes real good pictures and up loads to the fotki site just as well as my Sony. As far as picture size for posting I use fotki and it resizes the pictures when I up load to the site. It ask which size I want. I would buy one in your price range and not worry about the tec stuff. About anything in your price range will do anything you need for posting pictures on this site reall well.

We have the Kodak Easy Share digital mod Z710. Use a memory card with it to store your pictures and you can download them to your computer. Hal
PS: We have several other cameras. but I like this the best.

I received this email from tinypic about me posting pictures here on these forums. I decided to use the Advanced Posting Tools on here to post pictures and its very easy. Here's a copy of the email I received. Photobucket own's tinypic too. Hal

I wish you had mine as well... a crappy camera with downright ANNOYING software!

I've got a Kodak DX3500 that is simple to use and in general, does take very good pictures, but it will not take videos, and it will not take extreme close-up shots which I need for my website, so I did a little research, and bought an Olympus FE46. I then found out the user manual for this camera is not included with the camera, but instead is on the Olympus website, and is about 346 or so pages long, so rather than try to read through and digest the whole thing, I just started playing with the camera and eventually got to where I now really like that camera.

To hi-jack this thread, do any of the digital cameras have a viewfinder screen that you can actually see in daylight? I have a camera that is worthless in daylight.

I read your post the other day about that. SO FAR I've not had any problems posting my photos, but often because so many still use dial up I just post a link instead which might make a difference.

Thanks for informing me about the Advanced Posting Tools here. Never paid any attention to them before.

I think that has something to do with the age of the camera. My Olympus is much better than my old Kodak, but that old Kodak USED to be much better than it is now.

Good Link there Dave, I like the "Kiss" method too! (Have to remember that one)--LOL

Reason being for the cheaper versions is I am rough on such items in and out of pocket a lot at like plow days and steam shows and for general use.
looks like in my range.

Thanks to all who responded !

If you get one like those, get you a big memory card so you can take higher quality (not email size) pics so you can use them however you want. I save my pics big then, when I want to post them here, just select what I want and put them in an email. Outlook asks if I want to resize and I say yes. Then put the smaller pics in my upload pictures folder.

The website mentioned,--- Do you have any other address's listed to your computer that are only for business use? If I remember correctly you do have a body shop. Maybe that is what they are referring to.

I still dont see the mole hill they are making a mountain out of.

Never had a business, retired from the federal government. That took up to 43 years including 2 years in the Army during the Korean War. Hal

Advanced Posting Tools will upload faster than using those photo services. I even posted 2 pics at once. Don't need to do any typing and it's free. Hal

We use a Canon Power Shot A520.

All I know is that it"s easy to use and easy to "upload" photos to the home computer.

It"s also very safe; I"ve never hit a pine tree while using it.

Might send Nancy an email if you need more "specs".

Ihad the same problem. I found the Kodak EasyShare with the eyepeice viewfinder in addition to the screen. Somehow it even shows enlarged picture through there when you zoom in. Mine is a C743 I found on Ebay.

Opinions are like AHoles, everyone has one! so here is mine. I have carried a CASIO EXILIM 72 MP from RS, in my pocket for a couple of years. It has fallen out, onto the ground, gotten wet, and has had no care what-so-ever. I have a second rechargable bat. for it, which requires changing every now and then and the chip in it has over 300 pics stored in it that I download to this forum on a frequent basis, via my windows pic. program on my laptop. I'm a computer Idiot,( can turn stuff on and off) and this camera works every time for me..

Any camera on the market today is overkill for pictures you only intend to post to the web. You should never post anything with a resolution much greater than 640x480 (about 0.3 megapixels), because typical screen sizes are around 1024x1280 (about 1.3 megapixels) and pictures larger than that have to be scaled down to see on the screen anyway. Posting high resolution pictures just means they take forever to load but don't look any better on screen than low resolution pictures.

Nobody makes a camera anymore with less than megapixel resolution. For that matter, most cell phones have resolution greater than that. So you'll actually want to convert your pictures to lower resolution before you post them. So get a camera that's cheap, fits in your pocket, and which you think will be easy to use. Resolution is simply not a consideration, and lower resolution cameras have the advantage of storing more pictures on a card.

If your camera or PC doesn't come with picture editing software that will convert your pictures to lower resolution, there are free programs available on-line that will do the job.

I had one of the first Cannon zoom cameras. Ate up batteries fast and to big to put in pocket. Second was a Vivitar, worked good until it crapped out. I now have a Cannon Power Shot A470. Got at Wal-Mart for around $100. Uses two Lithium AA batteries and they last half the summer. I mostly take videos at tractor pulls. Screen is hard to see in bright light to see if I have pushed the right button to turn on video. I have missed a few pulls and received a lot of flack. The operator could be improved. They all probably have improved since I got mine. Battery life is very important to me and this one passes the test.
