massey 165 power steering issues

hi hoping someone may be able to help??no power steering?with wheels off ground they turn free but no assist.but appears nothing is binding.was low on fluid. put a pail full in but nothing yet?any suggestions? thanks cam

the power steering unit on those only holds about a quart. U did fill the power steering unit...correct? Not the Hyd.'s

The power steering reservoir is attached to the power steering pump on the engine. Fill plug is on the top rear of the reservoir.

On my newer 231 Massey I have to bleed the power steering every now and again or it doesn't work properly. Especialy if I added fluid. Take the cap off the resouivor and with engine running turn the steering wheel all the way in each direction a couple of times. Then put the cap back on. Its what my owners manual told me to do with that model. I guess it bleeds the air out of the system. Whatever it does it works for my tractor. Maybe it will work the same for your 165.
