Flat w/Loose Stud Update

With my BIL's help, we finnaly got the stud cut off. The lug nuts were decorative closed on the end. A "cone cover" --similar to a hub cap--was screwed to the wheel. He used some type of hittable screwdriver to get the cover off and then used a small metal grinder to cut the stud off. He can fix almost anything and it still took close to an hour to get the wheel off. Glad to be on the road again.

Thanks for all your input.

Thanks for the update. I hate it when someone posts a problem then never follows up with what the solution was.

Your BIL's "hittable screwdriver" is commonly called an "impact driver". And his grinder is probably what most folks call a "die grinder", even those of us who wouldn't know a die if it fell on our feet. Both the impact driver and die grinder are indispensable tools.
