160,000 miles and the injectors are bad....local dealer quoted $2900....... Googled it and found "Special Warranty Extention 04039" extending injector coverage to 200,000 miles on '01-'04s. "errrrr....we can cover it under that, sir.....will you approve an oil change?"

I once owned a Pontiac mini van that was about 8 years old and had 140,000 miles when the steering rack went berzerk. It acted so bizarre, I thought GM ought to know about it, if they already didn't.

First thing I did was I Googled "Recalls, Pontiac mini van" and found there was a recall on the problem with no time or mileage limit. Had a dealer run the VIN and found mine had fallen through the cracks and never had the recall done. So, even at that age and mileage, I got a brand new GM rack. It pays to snoop a bit before you spend big bucks on a vehicle.

I didn't get as lucky. My '02 had 260,000 on it when they went bad. GM wouldn't help with them. Can't say as I blame them a whole lot. Had em replaced and hope to get another 250k out of it. Have 302,000 currently. I can't say enough good about my Duramax!
