Well , as I"m composing this post, here in the R.S of the screen is a McAfee Says Your computer is at risk. Had it on before and checked the status box. Off it went so I thought it was over with. He--NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Back on again. Over and over and over with different popup messages flooding the side.corners. of the screen. I"m so Pizzed with this crap that I was wondering if there is any corporate offices that trigger such worthless messages. I told my son, when We bought this computer with all the bells and whistles,I didn"t request any of such pop ups EVER. I sure would give the originators he-- if I could find out where to get in touch with em Son Backdated the computer 3 days back and that took care of this problem before. Well Not this time. Thinking about scraping these programs and installing others to take it"s place. What would your advice be? Really getting weary of all the BS connected with these un wanted messages that have no end in sight ,that appears on the screen, (un-wanted,not reguested)when the mood strikes whom ever is instituting em. Gotta be a way of removing em PERMANTLY(sp) so I can enjoy my computer again. Sure would appreciate helpfull Information on how to remedy this intrusion. Reguards,
LOU .

If you look under TOOLS you will see "popup blocker" with an arrow. click it should show an on or off.
You can block Pop Ups.

I assume you are using Internet Explorer.......go to Firefox and download the latest browser..I have been using it for at least 5 years....the people writing code to tweak the end user, always picks the programs that the majority of people use, as it gives the code writers the most impact...I will post the link for Firefox.

Think we found some of the problem, but McCaffe has a problem about "OUR COMPUTER IS AT RISK" click here to fix, well we clicked, it fixed for a second, and then back to "YOUR COMPUTER IS AT RISK" click here to fix AGAIN second time and so on and on.If any more ideas, they are welcome, as the next FIX is a SHOTGUN!!!

Many new computers come with a free version of McAfee (and other programs) pre-loaded and then Mcafee (or the others) try to sell you their expensive version. If you look in the "Programs" and find McAfee (whoever) and delete it you may solve your problem.

Try doing a system restore to at last one month before today. It wont get rid of emails or personal files, it just resets the system files to one month prior.
Try this:
Start>All programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore > Reset computer to earlier time > choose your earlier time on calendar

If the problem persists I'd say you have a type of virus.

Good luck

sounds like youre doin good on the not smokin...hang in there buddy...it'll get better yet lmao

i'm workin on 7 years without my cancer sticks and yeah i still miss em but i can breathe again.

Is it down by the clock on the Screen?. If so you should be able to make it go away if you go to Ctrl+alt+del and then go to processes. Look for comething that resembles McAfee in the 'Image Name' column, click it and click End Process at bottom of window.Should disappear right away. Some programs are real presistent and will open them selves back up almost right away. If that's the case you may be able of get rid for good through 'Program access and defaults' which is located below control panel in the start menu.AT the top left side of that program you will see an add or remove programs button. Click it and see if you can find this McAfee program. Be careful here if you anti-virus program is McAfee though cause you may delete it instead.. If non of that works that's usually when I delete Windows and re-install it again. I don't know how else to do it and my computer usually need a wipe by then anyways. Mind you I gotta save all pics and songs to a usb flash drive cause once windows is gone it ain't coming back. Good luck getting that fixed.

Norton anti everything will do the same thing. Hig pressure sales turn me off from ever purchasing their products. They do catch alot of dumb ones by doing this however.

Norton does this even if you have a computer that has a password, and never hooked to the net.

Have you downloaded the latest updates from Them? I am no fan of McAfee ( Mine came with it, but when the trial period ran out I uninstalled it and got something else ) But I noticed that you often get those pop ups with it if it has not been kept up to date. Like BC says, Download, install & run Malwarebytes Antimalware and see if that stops the popups. It just might amaze you what it finds. It is really good.

It sounds like you might have a virus or malware.

A lot of fake "security software" these days spreads like a virus and then tries to scare you into forking over some money to "fix" the problems on your PC.

I work on PCs daily and that sort of garbage can range from fairly-easy to remove to need-to-reinstall-Windows to fix.

Malwarebytes really does a good job of removing a lot of that garbage. Sometimes in a tough case, if you"ve been able to get Malwarebytes installed in the first place, you can just turn the PC off for a week or so, then fire it back up, update Malwarebytes to the latest version, and then run it and it will by then know how to remove the threat.

I meant to add - I've seen this week similar warnings that say Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus has found "viruses" and it needs to download something to cure them.

It actually is one of 4 or 5 viruses that masquerade as SE. The one we've had around here has been Thinkpoint.

Anyway, the point is, its getting harder and harder to tell where the dang warning pop-ups are even truly coming from...

I got a bad one recently called "security tools" It had a scan popup widow that looked real and said that a program was open trying to send my credit card info out, only problem, I don't have that info on my computer, It blocked all my security programs from working. I had to go into safemode with networking to download a small tool called rkills that is a tool to keep the virus for blocking any attempt to clean the system and a very latest updated Malware Bytes program got it!! I thought I was going to have to reload but it is good now. BTW I googled the security tools and there were online removal procedures. You may want to check that avenue. When Malware got it it listed it as a "rogue" in its log. mEl

Bc&t. Still off the da-- things. I do know that I can ,that is if I don't get so pizzed that I could just scream. Why does something like that make me have a personality change. Dr Jekyl,Mr Hyde complex seems to be here and now. I was asking My Son, about such things as how can pop ups find their way through the computer ,when I didn't ask for em in the first place. Sure was expensive (programs) when We first got the whole package. No where was there a warning that said" Be prepaired for a ship load of pop ups to be part of your computer programs, whether you asked for em or not". I sure would love to converse with the jerk who runs such programs. Un like Dave 2, I wouldn't need people skills .lol.I even didlike the flashing light on the T.V.Mail box (direct T.V.) Son removes em for me. No way to tell em to stop sending their messages as I'm Definately NOT A SPORTS FAN!!
Any way Guess I've ranted enough, time for a pain killer . Hurt all through the leggs. I'm outta here. BUT THANKS FOR THE REPLY REguards LOU.

Thanks HOWARD H.,
I think we found it, seems it needed to update from Mcaffee. After we udated it, it went away, so far hasn"t returned. Thanks for the help.
