Tractor upgrades cut deaths

didnt see that but operator awareness and training are always the best way to avoid injury and death' saftey devices help a lot but are no substitute for knowing how to operate the machine and training to be aware of what not to do when using it , example a rops can safe your life,if your belted in, a smart operator would not have turned the tractor over in the first place

Eric, I don't buy the argument that "a smart operator would not have turned the tractor over in the first place". Every year dozens of experienced operators die in rollover accidents. Given that there are few, if any, programs to train inexperienced machinery operators in safe operating practices, ROPS is really the best solution to rollover safety. That said, I have an older non-ROPS tractor, and I try to avoid rollover situations. But any operator can be caught in a situation where a rollover is inevitable.

When I sold John Deere new equipment I only had one person ever killed on anything I had sold. It was a JD 790 compact tractor. The man had the roll bar up and his seat belt on. He rolled the tractor just past a tree and the tree came in front of the roll bar and pinned him over the seat. So roll bars and seat belts help but some times it must just be your day to go.
