Cheap power steering

Duh........
Put new tires on the frt of my tractor a couple years ago and thought they were 4PR like the ones I replaced. Steering has been hard and I thought I was just getting old and weak. Was BSing around today and checked the air pressure in them 10 psi in one and 15 in the other. You couldn't tell it by looking at them. Got to looking and they were 6PR. Guess the tuffer tire along with them being new made them look different. Ran both up to 40psi, put a spinner on the steering wheel, and I'm 15 years or so younger.

OK
now jack the front end up and grease it very good
need to jack it up to get the pressure off and let the grease flow where it will do good

Got oil seeping from somewhere and has been dripping now and then. Will be pressure washing (steamcleaning as needed) and changing all oils and lubeing next week. Thanks for the tip.

Left my Chev 1500 set for a few weeks started down the road yesterday and man I thought I was loosing my driving skills stopped at local store, when I came out looked the tires over and 2 of em looked a little low but not too bad .6 ply on a heavy 1/2 ton. I came home and checked air pressure and one front had 10# and the other only 28 re aired them went for a ride and now I can drive as a professional. Heck it will even stay on one side of the road now, and off the side walks !

So far Air is a lot cheaper than a PS unit.

I have a little Massey Harris 22 and the steering box drips and when it gets bad low it is a bear to steer but fill the box up and it steers very easy . They sure did not make it easy to add oil to it to boot !

Hey Dave I have a couple opossums to go with that crow your eating right now. Or didn't you learn about PMS in the military>> Preventive maintenance schedules. Pays to spend $0.50 on grease and also to check tire pressure once in a while or by the way if you do not keep them aired up it will cost you a new tube sooner or later or a new tire if it does not have a tube.
Oh I do have 3 opossums out there right now with big holes in them. Sort of funny how far one will fly when the barrel of the 410 is 5 inches from it when you pull the trigger

Finally figured out how to hit them huh???????? You got that shotgun strapped to the porch with a string tied to the trigger and a bowl of cat food in front of it huh???????

We had PMCS in the Army. PMS must have just been a navy term. kinda what the sailors would get when the Marines would want to use them for dance partners.

HA!!! Just kidding.

Ah the 44 mag with the 44 special just didn't have enough kick at the barrel end to do a good job but that 410 sure does.
Funny how things steer far better when you have 30-40 PSI in them instead f 10 isn't it

Ah see you have not kept up with all that has been talked about in this subject in the past. Yes a 44 special with a say 200 plus grain bullet will but with a shot shell they do not do well at all. If you even know what a shot shell is in a 44mag. Even at close range the shot shell in 44 special does not have the killing power to stop one dead in its tracks and most do crawl off but if I could still find them a true 44mag shot shell stops them dead in there tracks but I can not find the 44mag shot shells in my area any more

I remembered you shotting at and missing them and changing yor story around then too . Other than you I dont know anybody that would use shotshells on them . Now are you gona report to mommy and have my post deleted .

If you're just gonna make an a$$ of yourself, do it in your own post instead of hijacking someone elses. I'm perfectly capable of getting my own posts poofed without any help.

Dave I will say I am sorry to you . It just gets under my skin to see people that makes things up and changes storys around to suit them and never get called on it .

I did not and do not miss period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use shot shells due to the fact I am shooting on my porch and do not want to put holes in it and other things close by. Now as to the report thing well your the one asking for it since your the one who can not act mature

I do not make thing up and I do not lie. What I post here it truth. And as for submarine life yes I was on the SSBN 633 in 1976 and 77 plus or minus a year or two and yes there are thing I know that I can not tell with out being subject to going to jail. So what years where you in the military or are you 9one that was a coward and ran to avid the draft

Old is so full it most of the time anyways. Jack of all trades, profitable at none. I have seen pictures of your place Old and as old as you are if that is all you have to show for it, then I dont think I will be taking your advice.... ever.

Don't mind omitting, between you and me, I have been guilty of that also.Air compressor is the poor man's power steering. Particularly with the FMD.

Replace the oil in the steering box with John Deere corn head grease and it will not leak out, It will also stay well lubed. I did this in my Earthmaster and it has worked well.
